why i’m suddenly into smoothies

Someone say energy? I have to say, my personal energy levels lately have been hovering somewhere between ‘sleeping sloth’ and ‘dried-up sponge’. Then, I stumbled on this idea of boosting energy with a smoothie. Like, really? A smoothie? That’s supposed to save me from crawling back into bed at 10 a.m.? Hmm.

Anyway, I gave it a shot. My fridge already looks like a chaotic market stall, so why not throw some of that produce into a blender, right? There I was, standing in front of a bunch of bananas, some sad-looking kale (don’t ask me why I bought it), a pack of berries, and a dusty container of chia seeds I never knew how to use. Apparently, this green mess of a concoction is supposed to change my life or something.

I toss in a handful of kale (why does it have to smell so… earthy?), a banana for sweetness, and a little scoop of those chia seeds (which once stuck to my teeth for a whole day), then a splash of almond milk. Oh, and ice. Lots of ice. Because honestly, who wants a warm smoothie?

Okay, time to blend. The noise could probably wake the dead, but watching the ingredients swirl around like a mini tornado is oddly satisfying. Now for the taste test. It looks like something the Grinch would guzzle down, but it’s actually pretty good (like, who knew nutrients could taste decent?). Zingy, fresh, and… shockingly drinkable? I’m hardly a smoothie connoisseur, but this is surprisingly… not bad.

Now, am I buzzing with energy, ready to take on the world? Maybe not quite yet. But I get it. There’s something about drinking your greens that makes you feel like you could, at any moment, turn into one of those Instagram health influencers who do yoga on cliff tops. Or at least tackle a couple of more hours of adulting without face planting into my keyboard.

Anyway, my skepticism hasn’t turned into a full-blown smoothie love affair yet. But I’ll admit, there’s something appealing about the simplicity of it all. Throw a few things in a blender and BAM – instant breakfast. Plus, if it means not feeling like a sloth, maybe I’ll get used to having green teeth (thanks, kale).

Life’s a mix, much like my new favorite smoothie. My eyes still hurt from all those green bits. I probably need another one. Ugh.
